Alex Robinson, former CEO of award-winning behavioural change organisation Hubbub, has joined global environmental action NGO WRAP as Chief Programmes Officer. Alex will oversee the work of WRAP’s core programmes across resource management, the circular economy, food systems transformation (water – waste – emissions), packaging, textiles & fashion, and its behaviour change work.

Alex Robinson said, “Shifting behaviour at scale is one of the toughest and most important things we can do to tackle the climate and nature crises. WRAP is one of the few organisations genuinely equipped to do it, through its work with governments, business, NGOs and citizens. I’ve long admired Catherine and the team’s work and I’m excited to play my part in the next chapter.”

As Chief Programmes Officer, Alex will lead the design, delivery and impact of WRAP’s full global programme. He will work closely with CEO Catherine David to evolve WRAP’s collaborative action programmes with businesses under its sector specific Pacts, as well as programmes supporting local authorities and devolved governments to improve recycling, reduce waste, and encourage circular economy practices.

Catherine David, WRAP CEO said, “I am delighted to welcome Alex to WRAP and excited to work with him to scale WRAP’s impact globally in pursuit of our Circular Living mission. Alex brings a wealth of valuable experience in leading inventive system change programmes for circularity, a sharp commercial focus and a truly global outlook. I can think of no one better suited to accelerate the next phase of WRAP’s impact: for people, partners and planet.”

Alex joins WRAP from Hubbub, the UK’s leading environmental behaviour change charity. As CEO, Alex scaled Hubbub’s delivery to inspire the equivalent of one public environmental action every nine seconds. Hubbub was named Charity Times’ Charity of the Year in 2023.

The first half of Alex’ career was spent building international campaigns and partnerships in a very different sector: the music industry. After selling his music services business, he applied what he’d learnt to climate change and environmental campaigning. He brings to WRAP a track record of successful collaboration with business, government, philanthropy and the voluntary sectors, and a reputation for communicating complex ideas in simple ways that inspire people to act.

Alex joins WRAP at an exciting time in the organisation’s 25-year history with the recent opening of the WRAP EU office and expansion of WRAP in the Americas; the launch of the UK Packaging Pact which – alongside the UK Textiles Pact and UK Food and Drink Pact is working to reduce waste, water and emissions across key sectors. And the renewed focus on international food system transformation through a new global campaign, announced earlier this week.
