WESTBROOK – Louise C. Berg, 74, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, following complications from pneumonia related to a long-standing condition, Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy.

Louise was born on Oct. 28, 1951, in Eagle Lake, Maine, to Gedeon and Madeline (Thibeault) Dionne. She grew up in Aroostook County with her siblings, Nicole and David.

Louise graduated from Houlton High School in 1970 and earned her hairdressing license from D’Lor Beauty School. She moved to Westbrook to begin her career as a hairstylist and later worked for, and retired from, Unum.

Louise met Raymond Berg in 1973 at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor in Westbrook. They married on July 13, 1974, in Houlton and welcomed their daughter, Elena, in 1977.

Louise was an avid gardener who loved spending time in her backyard among her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed traveling with family, especially to national parks and warm-weather beaches. She also loved reading, baking, doing puzzles, watching sports, and spending time with family at Harmons Beach. Above all, she cherished time with her granddaughter, Phoebe, and loved watching her dance in many ballet performances.

Louise is survived by her husband, Raymond Berg; her daughter, Elena (Berg) Raymond and her husband, Jason Raymond; her granddaughter, Phoebe Raymond; her siblings, Nicole Tapley and her husband, Wayne, and David Dionne and his wife, Robin; as well as many dear sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews; and cousins.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Maine Medical Center’s emergency room, intensive care unit, and P3CD unit for the exceptional care they provided to Louise and her family.

Louise’s remains were cremated and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
