KENNEBUNK – The Kennebunks have lost a big man with a big heart. Haven Washburn Andrews Jr., of Kennebunk passed away on Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough, surrounded by family.

Haven was born Sept. 13, 1934, in Newton Massachusetts, son of Haven and Virginia Andrews, and brother of Patricia (Richmond) Charlotte (Pacelli) and Betsy (MacDonald). Haven grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, and Rochester, New Hampshire, spending summers on the family farm in Kennebunk. After attending the University of New Hampshire, Haven joined the Navy. He lived and worked in the Midwest for 16 years and returned to Kennebunk with his three children in 1977, living first on High Street and spending time on the farm raising sheep and occasionally pigs and other animals. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing the farm with family and friends, and his dogs. He spent most of his professional career working in marketing at AIG and its subsidiaries.

He was committed to his community. Volunteering as Santa Claus for over 25 years, serving on town committees and being elected as a Kennebunk Selectman, Haven believed in giving back to the town that meant so much to him. In his later years, he spent time compiling vital records to help maintain Kennebunk’s town history.

Some may remember Haven driving along the beach in his Model T with his dog Podi, helping children as a crossing guard at Consolidated School working at Hope Cemetery, or sharing time at the farm. He played many roles – most important a father, husband, and grandfather. There was never a person he wouldn’t engage in, and a quick trip for a cup of coffee often lasted hours. As a rule of thumb that he imparted to his children and grandchildren, if he saw a person more than once, he would say hello – and often become a fast friend.

Haven was predeceased by his son Haven W. Andrews III, in 1995, he leaves behind his wife Paula J Andrews; blended family of daughters, Karen Andrews and Jodi Andrews; Terry Lacroix (Rick), Scott Towne (Laurie), Stacy Towne (Rita), Sherm Towne (Sharon), Jim Towne (Ellen), Amy Brooks (Gary); grandchildren, Matthew and Alyssa Lacroix, Haven Washburn Andrews IV (Trisha), Lauren Buck (Brett Bierworth), Alexandra Buck (Ben King), Sam Buck, Avery McKnight, Jack McKnight; Megan Tielinen (Adam) Kara Towne (Sean), Allie Rallo (Joe), Elijah Towne, Ben Brooks, Jonathan Brooks, Marisa Towne, April Towne and Alex Towne; and 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews.

Visiting hours will be at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, on Friday August 14 from 4-7 p.m. A private burial will take place at Hope Cemetery.

The family extends deepest gratitude to those who helped keep Haven at home including Amada Senior Care (Kaitlyn), Beacon Hospice (Josh and Tracy), and to the entire team at Gosnell Memorial Hospice.
