Prichard Colon, the Puerto Rican boxer who suffered a devastating brain injury during his 2015 bout with Terrel Williams, died Thursday at the age of 33.

In the years following the tragic bout, Terrel Williams largely disappeared from the public spotlight, choosing to stay away from interviews and media attention.

The fighter eventually opened up about the emotional impact of the incident through a series of candid conversations, including a particularly emotional interview with RingTV in 2018.

He also made it clear that he had never held any hostility toward Prichard Colón and that the devastating outcome was never something he intended or wanted to cause.

"I pray for Prichard every single day. I don't wish nothing but peace and health for that man. It's been hard on me, too. I didn't want that to happen to him. I was just trying to win a fight. My life changed that night, and it will never be the same,” the boxer said.

He eventually returned to competition in 2017, despite protests from members of Colon’s family.

Williams competed only a handful of times after his comeback before ending his professional boxing career in 2019.

However, Colon was subsequently disqualified. He underwent emergency surgery and spent 221 days in a coma.

After leaving hospital in 2016, Colon needed constant care and could no longer walk or speak normally.
