The Cuddalore district police have recovered 300 mobile phones that were reported to have been either missing or stolen and handed them over to their respective owners on Wednesday.

Cuddalore district Superintendent of Police Vivekananda Shukla handed over the recovered phones to the owners.

He said cases were registered in various police stations in the district based on complaints received from persons who had lost their mobile phones. Subsequently, the Cybercrime police traced the mobile phones using their IMEI number.

Police said the owners, in the event of loss of their mobile phones, should register their online complaints via Department of Telecommunication’s Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) through https://www.ceir.gov.in/

The owners can also register their complaints with the concerned police station.

Mr. Shukla also cautioned citizens against lending their bank account details to fraudsters for illegal transactions. Anyone approached for bank account details or misuse should immediately contact the cybercrime helpline 1930 or report the matter through the national cybercrime portal, he said.
