Xbox is developing a "Platinum"-style completion achievement system, which CEO Asha Sharma confirmed is planned for later this year.

Sharma responded to a fan on X who asked if Microsoft would introduce completion recognition similar to PlayStation's platinum trophy. This announcement coincides with new Xbox Series X and S updates, including voice clip and party chat recording in the Xbox game DVR, based on top requests from the Xbox Feedback site.

Sharma stated the "team is working on something for later this year" in response to questions about the feature.

Why Xbox Is Adding Platinum-Style Achievements

Players have consistently requested an Xbox equivalent to PlayStation's platinum trophy, which recognizes 100% game completion. While Xbox games typically offer 1,000 gamer score per title, there is currently no unique reward for earning all achievements.

Xbox is considering how a completion achievement would integrate with gamer score. Since many games add achievements after launch, this can affect a player's 100% completion status.

One option under consideration is awarding the platinum-style achievement for reaching the base 1,000 gamer score, though the exact approach has not been confirmed.

New Xbox Series X, S Features, And What Xbox Still Hasn’t Confirmed

In addition to the achievement announcement, Xbox introduced updates based on top requests from the Xbox Feedback site. These include voice clip and party chat recording within the Xbox game DVR, which will capture teammates' audio during recordings if enabled, as well as other system improvements.

Microsoft has acted on fan feedback through 2026, including returning to Xbox exclusives, adding the Xbox backward compatibility emulator to PC, and reverting a previous Xbox Game Pass price increase.

Xbox has not provided details on how the completion achievement will function, including how it will address post-launch achievements or whether it will be tied to the base 1,000 gamer score or full achievement completion.

Sharma's comment confirms the feature is in development for later this year, but no specific release date or final design has been announced. Additional information is expected closer to launch.
