Spider-Man: Brand New Day is officially swinging to the all-time highest-grossing charts.
The latest Marvel installment has dominated the world in the last three weeks after it easily broke the record for the highest opening weekend of all time with $360.1 million. Since then, Brand New Day has continued to break box office milestones and records at a record pace. Now, the Marvel blockbuster has officially unlocked an elite list.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially made $1.8 billion at the global box office, enough to crack the top 10 highest-grossing charts of all time. Sony Pictures confirms that the Marvel movie has accumulated $704.5 million domestically and hit the $700 million milestone at record speed. Additionally, it made $1.108 billion internationally and surpassed No Way Home to become the studio's biggest movie of all time overseas.
Tom Holland's latest Spider-Man bumped Inside Out 2 to crack the all-time top 10 charts. Given its momentum so far, Brand New Day is expected to overtake Zootopia 2 and Spider-Man: No Way Home in the coming days and climb up the ranks. Also, with its current pace, it's only a matter of days until the new Marvel movie joins the $2 billion club. That would make it the eighth movie in history and the first Spider-Man movie ever to do so.

Several factors have led to Brand New Day's incredible box-office run. The fourth installment comes five years after the events of No Way Home, as the universe no longer remembers Peter Parker once Doctor Strange cast the spell. That left audiences curious about the aftermath in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unlike Jon Watts' era, which showed the young webslinger coming of age, Brand New Day was a reset for a now-mature Peter, who tries to adapt to a world as a full-time hero while dealing with loneliness and grief.
Additionally, Spider-Man: Brand New Day reviews were exceptionally positive, with praise for Peter's grounded character study, the street-level action sequences, and Holland's emotional performance. Marvel newcomer Sadie Sink was also lauded for her take as the X-Men character Jean Grey. As a result, word of mouth was strong, and that contributed to the incredible demand for audiences to watch the movie. In fact, the movie has a rare 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, while the critics' score stands at 90%.
Despite the commercial success, neither Sony nor Marvel Studios has indicated whether Spider-Man 5 is in the works. However, Holland indicated those plans were happening, telling Serieously: "It's on the cards... It's a little unclear right now, but I'm sure that whatever happens with Spider-Man, it'll be very bright."
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also reiterated those hopes but cautioned it will take some time: "But right now, he’s going to rest after that global tour. He and Zendaya are going to take a good and restful victory lap, which they very much deserve."
In the meantime, all eyes are on Spider-Man: Brand New Day and how far the box office can go as new releases like End of Oak Street, Coyote vs Acme, and The Dog Stars come out this month. It's also a matter of seeing whether it not only surpasses Star Wars: The Force Awakens' record as the highest-grossing movie domestically but also whether it can become the first movie in history to hit $1 billion.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theaters.
