Newly released body camera video shows the dramatic rescue of a man who became trapped during a massive bee attack in Lyford, near the Texas-Mexico border.
The footage shows officers rushing toward the disabled man after he fell near a neighbor’s home and was unable to escape the swarm. A towel had been placed over him in an attempt to shield him from the bees.
Despite being surrounded by the swarm and repeatedly stung, officers quickly pulled the man into a patrol vehicle to get him to safety. One officer then ran back to retrieve a jacket to provide additional protection.
Police said the attack began while the man was doing yard work next to his home.
Investigators later located a beehive in a nearby vacant lot. The hive has since been removed.
The man suffered at least 30 bee stings.
