TRENTON, N.J. (VINnews) — New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport filed an antitrust lawsuit against Amazon.com on Tuesday, accusing the online retailer of abusing its market power over third-party delivery contractors to suppress competition and harm workers.

According to court records, the lawsuit alleges that Amazon uses its dominance to impose low pay and poor working conditions on drivers who deliver packages for the company through its Delivery Service Partners program.

Davenport’s office contends that these practices allow Amazon to maintain unfair advantages in the delivery market while disadvantaging independent contractors who rely on the company for work.

Amazon did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the lawsuit.

The case is the latest legal challenge New Jersey has brought against the e-commerce giant over its labor and business practices.
