Orbitals
Developer: Shapefarm
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Release Date: September 6, 2026
Orbitals is a cooperative adventure game built from the ground up for two players, and it's basically a retro anime you can play. Set to launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, this intergalactic puzzle-adventure puts you and a friend in the roles of explorers Maki and Omura, who must work together to save their crumbling space station home from a supernatural cosmic storm threatening the galaxy.
The game's asymmetrical co-op gameplay pushes players to coordinate with unique tools and actions that only succeed when both teammates collaborate closely. A trailer released at The Game Awards in 2025 showed some of this co-op action, with one character piloting a spaceship while another operates the ship's turret. It also showed one player using a levitating beam to help transport an important piece of a puzzle, while the other navigated a series of dangerous platforms. You can expect retro anime-inspired cinematic cutscenes and action-packed cosmic co-op play when Orbitals releases in September 2026.

Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: 2026
If you're a fan of dungeon brawlers, Awaysis might just be your most anticipated game of 2026. Awaysis is packed with enchanted loot and enemies to hack away at, propelling you forward while you enjoy a rousing soundtrack from legendary composer Hip Tanaka (Metroid, EarthBound, Super Smash Bros. Brawl). Emphasis is on sliding around, pushing enemies off ledges and watching them fall into the abyss--a smart fighting style befitting of your small stature. The Duskbloods
Developer: FromSoftware
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Release Date: 2026
FromSoftware is at it again with The Duskbloods (and apparently, another unannounced title), a vampiric RPG set to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. It represents a notable shift for the studio best known for single-player experiences such as Dark Souls and Elden Ring, with The Duskbloods placing multiplayer at the core of its design, although director Hidetaka Miyazaki has said this isn't a trend the studio is committed to.
In The Duskbloods, up to eight players compete in the arena, vying for supremacy against both other players and their environment. Players take on the roles of powerful vampire-like combatants known as Bloodsworn--beings who have transcended humanity through their bloodlines--and battle within a dark, gothic-themed world. While details about specific modes, progression systems, and story elements are still emerging, we've collated all the info we can about The Duskbloods in our trailer breakdown.

Ikuma: The Frozen Compass
Developer: Mooneye Studios
Platform: PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: 2026
Narrative adventure fans and those who like slow, atmospheric tales should keep an eye out for Ikuma: The Frozen Compass, an upcoming 2026 game that blends emotional storytelling with survival exploration in an icy Arctic world. Developed and published by Mooneye Studios, the team behind Lost Ember and Farewell North, Ikuma is a coming-of-age tale of resilience and companionship that'll keep you cozy.
In Ikuma, players follow cabin boy Sam and his loyal sled dog Ellie after their expedition becomes stranded on an uncharted Arctic island in 1864. Facing brutal cold, treacherous terrain, and dwindling supplies, Sam and Ellie must work together to survive the harsh environment while uncovering the mystery behind a lost expedition that left only eerie traces behind. Each player takes their own role and responsibility in the survival of the pair, as well as uncovering a mystery hidden by frost but yours to thaw.
While Ikuma does technically support solo play, in which you can switch between Sam and Ellie’s unique abilities yourself, two-player cooperative play is how you get the most out of it, letting you share the adventure with a friend as you tackle it's icy challenges and unravel the island’s secrets together.

We Are So Cooked
Developer: Dwarven Brothers
Platform: PC
Release Date: 2026
What better activity to do with your friends than hide a body? In We Are So Cooked, you and your pals have accidentally murdered someone, and you need to get the body to the exit without alerting anyone to your crime. Sounds simple, but from what we've seen so far this is the ultimate recipe for chaos. The body can get snagged on environmental hazards, strangers can pop up at inconvenient times, and dragging it (rather than carrying it) leaves a nasty trail. You'll have to think outside the box to cover the corpse's exit without it being picked up on cameras or by other people in the building.

Don't Panic! It's Just Turbulence
Developer: Harmonia Games
Platform: PC
Release Date: TBC
Anyone with a fear of flying might want to avoid this one, but for hardier groups of friends it'll go down a treat. You play as a pilot or an air traffic controller, with the other player taking up the other role, and you must communicate, improvise, and code break to save an aircraft on the path to collision. It's a similar concept to Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes, where you'll need to read manuals and give instructions without being able to see what the other player is doing. From light aircraft to more complex passenger liners, there's a range of different layouts to test your communication skills and ability to stay calm under pressure.

We Were Here Tomorrow
Developer: Total Mayhem Games
Platform: PC
Release Date: 2026
The latest installment in the We Were Here series can't come soon enough for seasoned co-op players who have exhausted the other incredible entries in the franchise. We Were Here Tomorrow promises to follow the same format--two players separated by distance, able to communicate only through speech as they solve increasingly complex puzzles--but adds a whole new sci-fi twist. You and your partner will wake up inside strange machinery, unaware of how you got there or where you are, and it's up to you to figure out the context of your adventure while trying to escape. If this game is anything like its predecessors, it'll be a solid two-player co-op experience to keep on your radar.

Espiocracy
Developer: Ex Vivo Studios
Platform: PC
Release date: 2026
If you enjoy grand strategy games but wish you could be explicitly sneakier and more evil, Espiocracy is a game about what goes on underneath the palatable surface of world politics. Set in the cold war era, you'll be able to choose from a number of global spy networks and take complete control over how they run--influencing public discourse, staging coups, and forcing your nation's hand in proxy wars. Operating solely from the shadows, public-facing "actors"--politicians, celebrities, political parties, military groups, etc--will need to be recruited, trained, and skillfully deployed to control domestic and foreign goals.
Like many of its counterparts, the game supports online co-op where you and your pals will try to out-spy each other through cunning, ruthless decisions, and impeccable strategy.

Release date: October 1, 2026
Rayman Legends Retold is a new co-op game to keep an eye on if you have deep nostalgia for the original games but aren't opposed to seeing them doing something a little different. It's a fresh reimagining of the classic platformer, with new narrative beats and content, but familiar characters, locations, and abilities. Call It A Day
Developer: Egobounds/ Nulldog
Platform: PC
Release date: September 2026
Call It A Day focuses on the best part of any job--break time. You and up to 4 friends can take on the role of a renovation crew and give it as little effort as possible. You can water down your paint, throw trash out the window, and generally just count down the minutes until you get to crack open a cold one. The jobs themselves are all physics-based, so shirking on them might not be as easy as it seems, as you still have to technically complete them, even if it's a half-assed job.
