(ANSA-AFP) - PRISTINA, AUG 9 - The Kosovo Parliament was suspended today after an opposition lawmaker threw eggs at interim Prime Minister Albin Kurti, while a prolonged political crisis threatens to trigger new early elections.
    Europe's youngest democracy has held three elections in less than two years, with successive parliaments resulting from deep political divisions.
    Kurti, who has been engaged for days in negotiations with opposition parties over the appointment of a new president, attempted to delay a crucial vote when MP Time Kadrijaj threw eggs at him. "Shame on you!" Kadrijaj shouted as she threw the eggs at the leader, who was seated in the front row of Parliament. The presiding officer ordered the live stream to be cut off, while security rushed to protect Kurti. But the leader appeared unfazed by the incident and stated that if being pelted with eggs was the price of dialogue, he was "happy to pay that price." The 51-year-old prime minister is no stranger to parliamentary disruptions, as members of his own party have in the past thrown tear gas into the chamber to protest votes when they were in the opposition.
    Kurti's party, Vetêvendosje (Vv), received the most votes in the last election. (ANSA-AFP).
