Exceeding initial demand forecasts, this milestone marks the most successful pre-sale period in the history of the company’s foldable smartphone series, creating potential logistical challenges to fulfill early orders.

Global pre-order estimates range between 4.7 million and 5.2 million units, outperforming all previous foldable generations. The base Galaxy Z Fold 8 emerged as the primary driver of sales:

• Base Model Dominance: The standard model accounted for roughly 2.9 million units, representing about 59% of total series pre-orders.
• Regional Performance: Consumer demand surged in key markets, with U.S. pre-orders rising 30% compared to the previous generation, alongside strong figures in South Korea.
• Customer Migration: The revised form factor of the standard Z Fold 8 has attracted a noticeable number of former Galaxy Z Flip users upgrading to the larger folding format.

The high volume of orders surpassed Samsung’s inventory projections, leading to immediate stock shortages for specific configurations, such as the 256GB variant in the pistachio colorway. Due to the supply constraints, Samsung is expected to experience fulfillment delays regarding initial delivery schedules in multiple regions.
