The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League will crown a first-time champion Friday evening, as the Batavia Muckdogs host the Utica Blue Sox in a single-game championship final at Dwyer Stadium, Batavia.First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.The matchup marks the first time since 2018 that a team other than the Amsterdam Mohawks or Saugerties Stallions will claim the league title. The PGCBL moved to a single-game championship format this year after heavy rains delayed the East Division finals for two days, truncating the original best-of-three series.Batavia, the West Division’s top seed, advanced to its second consecutive championship game following a 6-4 victory over the Jamestown Tarp Skunks on Tuesday. The Muckdogs reached the finals by defeating Auburn 12-1 in the opening round. This is Batavia’s third trip to the championship series; the franchise previously fell to Amsterdam in 2022 and Saugerties in 2025.Utica, the East Division’s No. 3 seed, enters the final following a 10-2 upset of top-seeded Amsterdam on Thursday. The Blue Sox built a 10-1 lead through six innings to secure their second championship appearance in franchise history. Utica’s postseason run includes a Monday victory over No. 2 seed Saugerties.The winner will become the sixth different franchise to win the PGCBL title in the league's 15-season history.
