'What is happening?' Yet another MAGA talking head flip-flops in stunning about-face

Дата публикации: 24-07-2026 11:51:51

On Monday, July 20, far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer took a swing at the movement that she has aggressively championed: MAGA, complaining that some MAGA Republicans are "so ignorant" and slamming MAGA for pushing Russian government "propaganda" on Ukraine — a dramatic contrast to the countless MAGA attacks against former President Joe Biden for supporting Ukraine militarily. Now, another MAGA figure, Tim Pool, is radically changing his views on Ukraine. And the change is generating a lot of responses on X, formerly Twitter.Pool, on Thursday, July 23, tweeted, "Ukraine has been fighting for their very existence against an evil dictator. I see now the importance of the Ukrainian victory against Russia. I hope Trump and the people of the United States will lend their support."Ostap Yarysh, a former Pentagon reporter for VOA News, noted how much of a change that is for Pool.Yarysh, on X, observed, "Two years ago Tim Pool said literally this: 'Ukraine is one of the greatest enemies of our nation ... We should pull out all military support, and we should apologize to Russia.' Then it was revealed that a company associated with him had been paid by Moscow. What is happening?"Loomer, in her July 21 posts, admitted that she was "wrong" about Ukraine in the past. The MAGA influencer tweeted, "I've realized, I was wrong. I was living in a media echo chamber and I was propagandized by Russian media on social media to believe those things. So I came to Ukraine to see the country for myself. I am going to try to find evidence for the propaganda I've been fed, and if I don't find it, I will let everyone know so they too can come to see the light."The fact that both Loomer and Pool did major about-faces on Ukraine is generating a lot of comments on X.NOTUS' Joe Gould, noting Loomer's visit to Ukraine, posted, "Whatever Ukraine did to make this Loomer trip happen was a master stroke."X user @YourAnonCentral wrote, "F–– it, send Tim Pool and Joe Rogan to Ukraine next." And in a subsequent tweet, @YourAnonCentral — in response to Pool's post — wrote, "I WAS KIDDING [what] is this[?]"Puck News' Julia Ioffe tweeted, "I talked to @LauraLoomer about her trip to Ukraine. Among other things, I asked her who paid for her trip. 'Obviously, I have donors and whatnot,' she said. 'The government of Ukraine did not pay for me to go, if that's what you're asking.'"Ioffe linked to her Puck News article, "The Miseduciation of Laura Loomer" — an obvious play on R&B star Lauryn Hill's 1998 album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill."X user Marvin Baumann tweeted, "This is the clearest proof yet that Russian state finances are being obliterated."Another X user, Bishop commented, "watching all the MAGA acolytes turn pro-Ukraine."Journalist/author John A. Daly tweeted, "This 'sudden realization' by some on the Right that Ukraine is actually the good guy in the Russia/Ukraine War (when it was obvious all along) is pretty ridiculous to me, but I much prefer it over their previous spreading of Russian propaganda."

And the change is generating a lot of responses on X, formerly Twitter.

Pool, on Thursday, July 23, tweeted, "Ukraine has been fighting for their very existence against an evil dictator. I see now the importance of the Ukrainian victory against Russia. I hope Trump and the people of the United States will lend their support."

Ostap Yarysh, a former Pentagon reporter for VOA News, noted how much of a change that is for Pool.

Yarysh, on X, observed, "Two years ago Tim Pool said literally this: 'Ukraine is one of the greatest enemies of our nation ... We should pull out all military support, and we should apologize to Russia.' Then it was revealed that a company associated with him had been paid by Moscow. What is happening?"

Loomer, in her July 21 posts, admitted that she was "wrong" about Ukraine in the past.

The MAGA influencer tweeted, "I've realized, I was wrong. I was living in a media echo chamber and I was propagandized by Russian media on social media to believe those things. So I came to Ukraine to see the country for myself. I am going to try to find evidence for the propaganda I've been fed, and if I don't find it, I will let everyone know so they too can come to see the light."

The fact that both Loomer and Pool did major about-faces on Ukraine is generating a lot of comments on X.

NOTUS' Joe Gould, noting Loomer's visit to Ukraine, posted, "Whatever Ukraine did to make this Loomer trip happen was a master stroke."

X user @YourAnonCentral wrote, "F–– it, send Tim Pool and Joe Rogan to Ukraine next." And in a subsequent tweet, @YourAnonCentral — in response to Pool's post — wrote, "I WAS KIDDING [what] is this[?]"

Puck News' Julia Ioffe tweeted, "I talked to @LauraLoomer about her trip to Ukraine. Among other things, I asked her who paid for her trip. 'Obviously, I have donors and whatnot,' she said. 'The government of Ukraine did not pay for me to go, if that's what you're asking.'"

Ioffe linked to her Puck News article, "The Miseduciation of Laura Loomer" — an obvious play on R&B star Lauryn Hill's 1998 album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill."

X user Marvin Baumann tweeted, "This is the clearest proof yet that Russian state finances are being obliterated."

Another X user, Bishop commented, "watching all the MAGA acolytes turn pro-Ukraine."

Journalist/author John A. Daly tweeted, "This 'sudden realization' by some on the Right that Ukraine is actually the good guy in the Russia/Ukraine War (when it was obvious all along) is pretty ridiculous to me, but I much prefer it over their previous spreading of Russian propaganda."
