Exercise Mirren, brought together teams from the Airport Fire Service, the operational airport team, airline partners, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service, Highland Council, Network Rail, NHS Highland, British Red Cross, Courtyard by Marriot and third-party contractors based at the airport. Volunteers also took part, acting as the injured and casualties including families from the airport team and the local area.

The exercise was named after the daughter of Jamie Tulloch, from HIAL who led the organisation of the event. Mirren required emergency medical support at her birth and in naming the event after her, Jamie sought to mark how important the help of the emergency services was for his family at that difficult time.

The event, which was the result of a year of planning, included a series of tabletop exercises moving through to the practical setting up of reception centres at the airport and then the full emergency response on the day.
