The season finale for X-Men ’97 has hit Disney+, and it’s likely going to be one of the most talked-about Marvel moments of the year. The series goes fully down the Cosmic Marvel route with Celestials, religious-tinged self-sacrifice, and a moment Rogue fans will keep with them forever. It was everything you could ask for, but it still seems that the pushback against this season’s admittedly accelerated pace is keeping it from being as beloved as one would expect. X-Men ’97 Season 2 continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence.
