My god I spent some time with those back in the day. Great bits of kit, but does anyone use them anymore? I'd love one, just for sentimental reasons!

We had one of those valve grinders when I was an apprentice 60 years ago, Along with a spark plug blaster and test chamber that could be pressurised Solid kit.

Is the Wolf version of any value?

would think so, most of the valve cutting stuff gets good money at the moment. seems to be a few channels doing it on youtube so these things suddenly become wanted...

I have one in grey, an identical B&D model, but for 5/8 valves, paid £35 for it, and then rebuilt both motors, works like a charm and needed it recently, it isn't till you use one that you realise what a fantastic job they make!

Doesn’t appear to have the facility to grind the top of the valves? I had one years ago , possibly a Wolf, that had that feature which was very useful when rebuilding cylinder heads that needed the valve clearances shimming.

The one we had used shaped stones 45* and 30*, With a built in diamond for dressing the stones,

Could you please expand a little on the meaning of the 'size' description on the nameplate.

The one at the top of the thread says 6mm - 11/16" , which is a strange mixed-units way to write something. Your own one is 5/8".

Wish I could tell you, but I am not sure! I thought it referred to the maximum size of valve stem that the machine would take into the collet in the valve holder, but that doesnt make any sense. 6mm/11/16 valve stem dia/head dia but why mix units? we need to do more research, and I believe I have a manual at the workshop, when I got it along with the Covmac, I looked all over for a manual, but couldnt find one, except in Australia, and we did a deal on it, I will let you know what I find out, but give me a few days because I am still deep in the bowels of a Volvo V70 with VVT and no marks to speak of!! Anyone else know?

No, I think the valve top grinding facility was only on the Wolf, and some of the american made ones

You might know this already, but I found two references that said the collets are standard (but rare) 4C.
