Today i had the pleasure of fitting a tow bar to my 2021 Citroen Relay camper, i say pleasure because it came from PF Jones in Manchester, the quality of the item and ease of fitment was fantastic, makes a massive change to fit something British made from real steel and all the holes line up...starting to forget what it was like to have something fit for purpose with everything being Chinese as of late..just waiting for the 13 pin wiring loom which again is simple plug and play and piggy backs the rear light loom socket. highly recommend these bars. Its for a tow bar mounted double E-bike rack for my up and coming Sweden trip in a few weeks.

I can second PF Jones for service, I bought one for my car and found one of the brackets hit the exhaust pipe.

Phoned their technical dept. and explained what had happened, they asked for some pics and worked out Suzuki had moved the tailpipe on my model year so sent a modified replacement which was perfect apart from it was a mirror image of what I needed, another phone call and the correct bracket arrived a few days later

I have fitted many mnay tow bars to date. I have used a fair few PF`s aswell. i found them good aswell with good instructiuons when needed.
Whats mad though,i bought a tow bar for T`s 2016 Merc, and a plug n play kit for it at cost of near £100, i ddintn have time this to fit the wiring so left with a local Auto Sparky.he said it doesnt need one and quicker to just wire it as old days, 7 pin socket. costa whole let less as time was less and wroks fine for last 2 years.

Modern crap again ripping us off.

stick the socket somewhere else up out of the way... I normally put them inside the van on the door pillar and use a small extension to outside the van

vans catch too much water/dirt right there, always kills them

if that doesen't they're easy to smash when you're reversing so the back end sticks over a curb/grass/whatever

I didn't know about PF Jones. I bought mine from the Towbar Store that advertise on eBay. It's a Towtrust towbar, good heavy quality and I got all the bolts, fittings and wiring kit with it. I had it on the vehicle within a couple of hours. I am quite happy with it. Around £260 including carriage.

I used a wiring kit from P F Jones on my Ducato based motorhome , quick delivery and quality parts . I have fitted and wired literally hundreds of towbars in the last 60years , the garage I served my apprenticeship at were main agents for Witter towbars but I wouldn’t want to tackle modern vehicles without a purpose made wiring kit

Yes these plug and play wiring kits come with a bit of relay/blackbox wizzardy to overcome Canbus issues..my vans Canbus even detects a bulb of the wrong wattage.

Have fitted a few PF Jones units VW, LR & PSA and they have always been very good, the wiring kits are some of the best and just as good if not better than some OEM.
Would not use them for fuel injectors though, that is another story

Given they at least used to manufacture JLRs for them I'd expect it to be as good as OEM

As much as I would love to go back to the good old days when 7 pins sockets that only get used 3 times a year always needing fixing. I'll stick with the rip off 13pin that has always worked since 2014. Can't think why, guess I'm mad.
The only down side is the 13pin is testable on the MOT

Yes but my point was that some newer cars can still use 7 pin with no problem. Not usre if yours can but our 2016 Merc can. .

It came originally with a 7pin so needed an adapter, got sick of chasing lighting faults so went 13 pin after the first year. Your point is valid assuming the 7 pin keeps working. Both are just dumb plugs.

Not if you have a rubber cover over the socket.

Mine's a Brink detachable too ..If I can lay down on a thick 1200 x 750 mm " wet " dog mat and reach that far under the back of the car to remove it when not required
