The Multi-beneficiary Intermediated Loan (MBIL) will support BPCE in the implementation of their Water Strategy in France. BPCE will use this loan to support projects that reduce climate-induced water-related risks across a range of sectors and including investments in water efficiency, leakage reduction, water-reuse, wastewater treatment and flood resilience.

BPCE WATER RESILIENCE MBIL

The Multi-beneficiary Intermediated Loan (MBIL) will support BPCE in the implementation of their Water Strategy in France. BPCE will use this loan to support projects that reduce climate-induced water-related risks across a range of sectors and including investments in water efficiency, leakage reduction, water-reuse, wastewater treatment and flood resilience.

The aim is to finance investments carried out by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), mid-caps, corporates, public-sector entities and other eligible final beneficiaries in France. The operation will support investments that improve water efficiency, strengthen resilience to water-related climate risks and contribute to sustainable water management.

The proposed operation falls within the scope of the EIB's Environmental and Social Standards - "Standard 11 Intermediated Finance". The Borrower / Financial Intermediary has adequate capacity, systems and processes in place for identifying, assessing, managing and monitoring environmental, climate and social (ECS) risks related to the potential sub-projects benefitting from EIB support. The Final beneficiaries will be required to comply with applicable national and EU legislation in respect of environmental and social matters, as appropriate.
