Robert Jenrick has been reimagined as a competitor on The Traitors on social media after he was expelled from the Tories for allegedly plotting to defect to Reform.

The Liberal Democrats broke out Photoshop to reimagine Mr Jenrick, who had been shadow justice secretary, as a Traitor on the hit BBC show.

He was depicted as sitting down in the show's iconic confessional chair - where both Traitors and Faithfuls confide in viewers - and described as 'Robert, 44, Wannabe Prime Minister'.

The Lib Dems shared the image with the caption: 'Tonight's turret meeting will be pretty awkward.'

It was one of several memes shared online in the wake of Jenrick's expulsion from the Tories after leader Kemi Badenoch said she had been presented with 'irrefutable evidence' that he was planning to pledge his allegiance to Nigel Farage.

Alongside the Lib Dems, another user on X also shared a meme of Jenrick competing on the psychological hit show.

The user shared what appeared to be an AI generated image of Jenrick in a black hood, captioned: 'I am, and have been since the start…A TRAITOR!'

Meanwhile, the Trades Union Congress wrote a post with tongue firmly wedged in cheek as it asked Jenrick, who has consistently voted in favour of anti-union legislation: 'Do you need a union rep x'.

Others used memes of Alan Partridge - to whom Jenrick has been unfavourably compared for his awkward public stunts chasing train fare dodgers - to send up Jenrick's dismissal.

'Robert Jenrick is the subject of a sacking,' wrote one, in the voice of the Steve Coogan comedy creation, accompanied by an image of Partridge. 

Another parodied scenes from I'm Alan Partridge in which the character uses a dictaphone to make a note of mundane ideas.

Alongside an image of Coogan in character, they wrote: 'Sack #RobertJenrick for being unloyal, disloyal, and for plotting in secret to defect in a way designed to be as damaging as possible to his employer...call Bill Oddie.'

Others pointed out tweets where Nigel Farage - who recently met Jenrick for dinner - had criticised Jenrick when he was still on the Conservative front bench.

One such post written by Farage during the 2024 Tory leadership contest said: 'Formerly a man that believed in nothing, Robert Jenrick now pitches himself as the great hardliner.

'This is almost certainly done for political gain and not out of conviction. He will divide the party. I doubt that Jenrick will last long if he wins.'
