Noomi Rapace was the epitome of chic as she graced the red carpet at the premiere of her new film Mother at the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday.

The Swedish star, 45, looked gorgeous in a black backless halterneck gown which perfectly hugged her svelte physique. 

Noomi also wore a matching black headband and slipped her feet while adding a few extra inches with a pair of strappy platform heels. 

The stunner accessorised with silver earrings and eye-catching bracelets as she posed alongside the film's director Teona Strugar Mitevska and co-star Sylvia Hoeks.

At a photo call earlier in the day Noomi was sporting a chocolate brown tailored suit jacket with a pair of matching flared trousers and a camisole in a similar hue. 

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star accessorised her look with a pair of stylish shades, which she put on for several snaps at the event. 

Actress Noomi will play the role of Mother Teresa in the director's English-language debut Mother.

The film opens at the film festival's Horizons (Orizzonti) and before the world premiere she told Deadline: 'I like a challenging place. I've gone through some of these transformative faces and characters that have had a huge impact on me and have really challenged me...

'And I would definitely say that Mother Teresa is one of them. I went to places in myself that were, on some days, very uncomfortable to be with and very intense.'

Earlier this week, Julia Roberts and Heid Klum jetted into Venice, Italy on Tuesday ahead of the 82nd International Film Festival kicking off.

Both stars have been snapped as they drew attention from the public while making the most of their time in the romantic city.

Meanwhile, movie star Julia, 57, sported a casual look for her arrival in the Italian city.

The Erin Brockovich actress, who went makeup-free and showed off her stunning complexion, was flanked by her staff and security.

Julia wore a black top with matching shorts, while showing off her quirkiness with a monochrome cardigan that featured a pattern of a man's face.

She was snapped boarding a boat as she waved goodbye to the fans who gathered to catch a glimpse of her.

Julia will make her Venice debut on Friday in psychological thriller After The Hunt, which also stars Andrew Garfield.

It follows her character Alma, a professor who is caught up in a sex abuse allegation involving one of her students.

Both Heidi and Julia are expected to attend the Orizzonti premiere of Venice: Mother on Wednesday - a biographical film drama that tells the story of seven pivotal days in Mother Teresa's life.

George and Amal Clooney also arrived in Venice on Tuesday ahead of the film festival as the Hollywood couple were seen climbing off their boat.

Amal, 47, wowed in a stylish butter yellow halter neck dress which featured large pockets and a gold belt buckle. 

She accessorised the look with a pair of white heels, matching white handbag and shades.

Meanwhile her husband George, 64, looked rather dapper in a black polo shirt and cream trousers.

The pair appeared in great spirits as they walked hand in the Italian City ahead of Tuesday night's pre-opening. 

This year, George is attending the festival for the premiere of his new Netflix comedy Jay Kelly on Thursday. 

Venice begins with a premiere of Yann Arthus-Bertrand's extended short film Origin, the Venetian Lagoon followed by a screening of the late Erich von Stroheim's 1932 historical drama.

Adam Sandler was also seen arriving as he opted for a rather more casual attire in a quirky printed shirt patterned with leopards and leaves.

He paired the shirt with pale pink Nike shorts and black and bright pink trainers as he was seen carrying a basketball.
