He was named Hollywood’s highest-paid actor last month but Adam Sandler has escaped to London to ‘detox from LA’ while he films for his latest role.

And he has found the perfect place for some R and R - Mayfair’s £6,000-a-night Claridge’s hotel.

MailOnline can reveal that the Big Daddy star is spending three months living there while working on his new Netflix project, Jay Kelly, opposite George Clooney who was recently spotted filming a scene in a wood in Hampshire opposite Isla Fisher.

Adam told friends the move comes as a welcome break from his hometown and said he was using the time away as a ‘detox from LA’.

Much to the surprise of locals, the Grown Ups star has been enjoying London after being spotted at various locations around the capital since filming began in March wearing an array of North Face puffer coats.

Last week the Happy Gilmore actor paid a visit to the The Winning Post pub in Whitton, South West London, and posed with locals wearing a £300 black North Face coat.

He was pictured earlier this month sitting on the doorstep of Claridge’s scrolling on his phone wearing a £290 North Face puffer and bright blue basketball shorts.

The father-of-two has been joined in the capital by his daughters - Sadie, 17, and Sunny, 15 - whom he treated to the American songwriter Madison Beer’s Spinnin Tour at the Eventim Apollo two weeks ago.

The trio were filmed by a fellow concertgoer clapping along to Ms Beer’s performance with Sandler even wearing his £290 North Face coat inside the stadium.

The proud father also took his youngest daughter, Sunny, to a Tottenham Hotspur game against Luton and was filmed entering the stadium to chants from lairy football fans.

He was, again, sporting a £300 black North Face puffer coat to shelter him from the bitter April wind.

His wife, Jackie, whom he met on the set of his first big film, Big Daddy, 25 years ago also joined him in the capital and the pair were spotted enjoying the sights with Sandler sporting another £392 puffer coat.

When he’s not shooting scenes or spending time with his family, the Hollywood star has come into the habit of rocking up to leisure centres and challenging stunned Londoners to a game of his native Basketball.

Earlier this month, a video circulated on social media of the Murder Mystery actor joining in with a game of complete strangers on a court in Clapham Common.

He was easily spotted in the park by his bright red tracksuit bottoms and bright blue hoodie.

Last month he left a group of fans aghast when he arrived in a Hawaiian shirt at Kensington Leisure Centre and challenged them to a game of hoops.

Elsewhere in Kensington, the actor enjoyed a game of tennis and a relaxing sauna at the Harbour Clubs in Chelsea.

Chelsea is close to the New Yorker’s heart as he is an avid supporter of the football club and was seen cheering his team on at Stamford Bridge in March.

Sporting the club’s colours in a blue jumper and black winter jacket, the Uncut Gems star sat in a suite overlooking the pitch as Chelsea faced Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Filming for Jay Kelly is taking place between America and the UK - directed by Noah Baumbach the upcoming movie boasts a star-studded cast of Laura Dern, Jim Broadbent and Billy Crudup.

The plot of the film has been kept under wraps but it’s been described as a ‘funny and emotional coming-of-age film about adults’.
