Barry Keoghan looked like he had come to the right event as he hid his tired eyes behind a pair of sunglasses at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday. 

The Saltburn actor, 31, headed to Nespresso's event with Brut - and it looked like a cup of coffee could have been exactly what he was after. 

Despite it being dark outside, Barry rocked up the bash, held at La Nuova Italia, wearing the dark shades and larked around with the fashion accessory as he posed for photographs. 

He continued to show off his unique sense of style in a purple patterned co-ord which was partially undone to give an effortlessly cool look. 

Pictured sipping coffee, a close source said Nespresso has partnered with Barry during the Cannes Film Festival to help promote their products.

The actor is the latest celebrity to have sponsorship from the brand – with George Clooney, 63, David Beckham, 49, Julia Garner, 30, and Simone Ashley, 29, all having previously worked for Nespresso.

Speaking to press on Friday Barry said he has had "lots of offers" since his role in Emerald Fennel’s Saltburn saw him take the lead role of Oliver Quick.

Barry rose to acclaim in The Banshees of Inisherin, which earned him a BAFTA for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, while he was also nominated for an Oscar in the same category.

The Irish actor has also played major roles in The Batman, Eternals, American Animals, Dunkirk and Chernobyl.

George Clooney has been said to have been paid upwards of £40 million by endorsement deals from Nespresso since he began working with them in 2013.

In November 2023 David joined their forces in what was said to be a ‘big money deal’ at the time.

Barry was back on the red carpet as new film Bird was launched at the 77th annual Festival on Thursday afternoon. 

With the bathwater surrounding his last starring role still warm, the Saltburn star joined cast and crew on the Croisette to promote his latest film, a hard-hitting drama set in suburban Kent.

Keoghan plays Bug in the new film, a heavily tattooed, single father-of-two living hand-to-mouth with his children in a run-down squat.

And he was joined by its principal cast on Thursday, among them child actress Jackie Mellor, four, who stars alongside the Irish actor as his stepdaughter in the forthcoming film

The pair were seen flashing peace signs for waiting photographers before ascending the Croisette steps, with Keoghan crouching on his haunches to ensure he and Mellor were facing each other.

Cannes is the world's biggest film festival, first conceived in 1939 as an alternative to the then-fascist-influenced Venice Film Festival .

It has been held annually since 1946 except in 1948 and 1950, when it was cancelled due to lack of funds.

The festival is known for its carefully selected programme of films that have gone on to Oscar glory or launched the careers of directors like Quentin Tarantino .

Cannes' top prize is the Palme d'Or, or Golden Palm, whose past winners include Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, The Pianist and Parasite.

Jane Campion became the first female director to win in 1993 with The Piano, followed by a nearly three-decade gap until Julia Ducournau received the award for Titane in 2021.

Justine Triet became only the third female director to take the prize last year with Anatomy of a Fall.

There is also an honorary Palme d'Or, which is awarded in recognition of notable bodies of work, with past recipients including Harrison Ford , Jane Fonda and Clint Eastwood .

There are two honorary winners this year: George Lucas of 'Star Wars' and ' Indiana Jones' fame, and Japanese animation legend Studio Ghibli, the first group to receive the prize.

Other awards include the Grand Prix, jury prize, best director, best actor, best actress, best screenplay and best short film.
