Fox has given the green light for a new reality competition series entitled The Masked Dancer, based on the network's smash hit series The Masked Singer.

Craig Robinson will serve as the host of the upcoming series, according to a Fox press release, with the show slated to debut in December.

Robinson will be joined by a quartet of panelists, Ken Jeong (who also stars on The Masked Singer and hosts Fox's I Can See Your Voice), Brian Austin Green, Paula Abdul and Ashley Tisdale.

The show, which is also inspired by a popular segment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, will feature, 'celebrity contestants shaking their tail feathers, while covered from head-to-toe in elaborate costumes and face masks.'

The celebs will be joined, 'by masked partners and back-up dancers, as they perform a series of dances together; spanning from hip-hop to salsa, jazz to tap dancing and more,' according to the show's description. 

'Each week, a series of clues will be sprinkled throughout packages, costumes and routines, leading the panelists one step closer to figuring out which famous faces are freestyling behind the masks,' the description adds.

The celebrity lineup has already been set, with the description dropping a few clues already, stating that they have collectively, 'amassed more than 38 million albums sold worldwide, 20 Emmy(R) Award wins, 20 Grammy(R) Award nominations, 10 World Dancing titles, five New York Times Best-Selling Author titles, four Olympic gold medals and three Broadway show appearances.'

Other guest judges, along with the official premiere date, will be announced by Fox very soon, with production already under way.

'We've begun filming The Masked Dancer with incredible new talent on both sides of the mask, and can't wait to share the series with viewers,' said Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment & Specials, FOX Entertainment. 

'Craig Robinson is hilarious as always in his role as host, and Ken, Brian, Ashley and Paula are the perfect blend of personalities to lead our awesomely weird world of masks into a whole new genre!' he added.

The Masked Dancer is produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment and Warner Bros. Unscripted & Alternative Television.

The show is based on the South Korean format, The Masked Singer, created by Mun Hwa Broadcasting Corp. 

James Breen, Craig Plestis, Dan Martin and Ellen DeGeneres are executive producers of the series, with Breen serving as showrunner. 

Tisdale also broke the news to her fans on her Instagram, sharing the official logo for the show, while also sharing her thoughts in a video on her Instagram story.

'I am so excited to share that I am doing The Masked Dancer,' Tisdale began in a video to her fans. 

'I'm just so excited to be a part of the panelists with Paula Abdul and Ken Jeong and Brian Austin Green, and of course, Craig Robinson hosting,' she added.
