Vanessa Feltz is set to get the last laugh in her feud with Anne Robinson as she is returning to The Weakest Link.

The broadcaster, 59, had a memorably frosty encounter with Anne, 77, when she appeared as a celebrity contestant on the programme over 20 years ago.

According to The Sun, Vanessa is returning to the reboot of the show which will be hosted by comedian Romesh Ranganathan.

A source told the publication: 'This will be delicious for her because the last time she was on the show, she left with a bad taste in her mouth following Anne's comments. 

'But Anne's not the one who has been asked back — it's Vanessa, and she is likely to savour the moment.' 

The reboot will not feature members of the public and will instead have celebrity contestants competing to win money for a charity of their choice.

Other contestants set to feature on the show are Gemma Collins, Hollyoaks' Richard Blackwood and hockey Olympian Sam Quek. 

There will also reportedly be a Strictly Come Dancing special featuring judge Anton Du Beke, dancer and It Takes Two judge Janette Manrara and former contestants Emma Bunton and Ranj Singh.

Vanessa previously branded Anne 'a nasty piece of work' following her appearance on the quiz show.

In a moment that was cut from the episode, Anne was said to have asked Vanessa: 'Looking the way you do, how do you think you land all these big, black boyfriends?', referring to Vanessa's partner Ben Ofoedu.

Anne later fired back, telling The Sun: 'What I actually said to her was: "How can someone like you attract gorgeous black boyfriends?"

'First of all, she'd talked endlessly about doing just that, secondly it'd taken her 16 years to discover she was upset about it, and maybe if I had a radio show to promote I might have done the same.

'I'm not complaining about it, but it wasn’t quite what I said. I think she came twice on The Weakest Link and we certainly heard nothing for 16 years. I probably couldn't say it now, but it wasn't derogatory except to her.' 

The reboot of The Weakest Link was revealed earlier this year and will see celebrities trying to win £50,000 for charity. 

Speaking about his new role as presenter of The Weakest Link, Romesh said: 'It's an honour to be asked to bring back what is basically a TV institution to our screens.

'Anne was an amazing host and to step into her shoes is an anxiety-inducing privilege. 

'I'm hoping we've found a way to make both the fans of the show happy as well as bringing a new audience to it. If not, accept this as my apology.'
