Joao Felix could be set to face yet another season on loan after falling out of favour at Atletico Madrid, according to reports.

The forward - who was bought by the club in 2019 for a staggering £113million - joined Chelsea in January in a mid-season loan move as he found himself increasingly unable to work his way into head coach Diego Simeone's plans. 

But despite a bright start in west London, albeit one marred by a red card on his debut against Fulham, Felix was unable to impact the Blues' turbulent fortunes, and scored just four goals in 16 Premier League appearances.

Chelsea recorded their lowest league finish in 30 years as they stuttered to 12th place on the final day of the season, and will go without European competition next season.

Although himself open to the possibility of staying in west London on a permanent deal, new manager Mauricio Pochettino opted against signing the player in one of his first cut-throat decisions in charge at Stamford Bridge. 

But as per ABC, uncertainty over Felix's long-term future may be set to continue as his parent club explores a number of loan moves for their unwanted forward. 

Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Newcastle are all believed to be interested in securing the forward's services next season, but Atletico are insistent on a loan move rather than a permanent deal to recoup some of their initial investment.

After an uneven season in both LaLiga and the Premier League, Felix's value has dropped and the Spanish club are optimistic that a move in the short term could boost his value and allow for a greater sale in the future.

Felix is said to be intent on staying in the Premier League but the player has spoken to his agent Jorge Mendes, and asked that any potential loan come with the prospect of Champions League football.

Whilst Aston Villa secured a spot in the Europa Conference League with their impressive seventh-place finish last season, Man United and Newcastle would likely be the player's preferred options - although none of the three clubs have tabled a formal offer yet. 

Felix was previously thought to be mulling a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but the Ligue 1 champions may have been put off by the high premium Atletico would look to place on a permanent move. 

The club are looking for a fee in the region of £85m for their club record transfer. 

Felix received further confirmation of how much his star has fallen at the Civitas Metropolitano when his No 7 shirt was handed to team-mate Antoine Griezmann ahead of the next campaign. 

Griezmann previously wore the number during his initial stint at the club, but Felix has sported it since his arrival in 2019. 

The forward was also spotted training with Atletico's youth side for some of the club's first day at their pre-season training camp in Segovia.

Alongside Renan Lodi, Felix was consigned to an academy rondo, while Simeone led a tactical drill with other senior players. 

Although Felix rejoined the senior squad later that day, relations between El Cholo and his player are thought to have broken down to the extent that the pair are uninterested in working with one another again.
