The Ledians - another civilization from my Namorian world-building project. They are a people that live in close proximity to the Namorians, and engage in a lot of cultural and material exchange with them.
This illustration, a Ledian spearman, is my first step towards incorporating them into the world-building process of this project.
His armor and weapons are a mix of home, and outside (Namorian, and other) influences. For example, the wicker shield he carries is of a Namorian fashion, but made with local materials. The cloth flap attached to the shield is also styled after those used by Namorian infantry. Even the greaves he wears are Namorian.
The helmet, which I have previously drawn Namorian troops with, is what I am now referring to as "The Ledian Helmet" type.
The armor, however, is styled after those used by the Muskai - yet another civilization I have planned for this world-building project.
As I continue to develop the Namorians and their world, I will inevitably get into the other factions, peoples, and civilizations that share it with them.
I like big, expansive fantasy worlds with lots of different peoples, flora, fauna, and so on. That is something I strive to include in my own fantasy worlds, Namoria included.
Being a fan of ancient arms and armor, my usual first take on a fictional civilization is a soldier or warrior from it. I do want to switch that up a bit, but for now, it gets the job done.
This project is growing, and with it the scope of the Namorian's world. In the future, I will be adding and showcasing new and different elements of the world the Namorians and their neighbors inhabit. And with that, more, and more artworks with which I hope to bring them to life.
So stay tuned, Namoria is just getting started.
