MOSCOW, August 11. /TASS/. Moscow and Beijing have discussed the prospects for further easing travel restrictions between the countries as well as the functioning of foreign institutions, the Russian Foreign Ministry said after Russian-Chinese inter-ministerial consultations.

"A thorough exchange of views was held on a wide range of issues, including prospects for further liberalization of the mutual travel regime, issues of protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of the two countries, as well as the functioning of foreign institutions," it said in a statement.

It said that the negotiations were held in a businesslike and constructive atmosphere.

"The parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation in the consular field. We agreed to continue the practice of regular bilateral meetings," it said.

Earlier, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia and China would extend visa-free travel for each others' citizens for 2027.
