NOVOSIBIRSK, August 11. /TASS/. The newly-built Siberian Circular Photon Source (SKIF) shared research facility will help Rosatom meet strategic goals in developing new materials and nuclear medicine, the state corporation’s Director General Alexey Likhachev told TASS.

"We see SKIF as a platform for meeting our strategic objectives. We are already drawing up a joint research program with the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Our focus will be to study the structure of melts and phase transitions, which are critically important for materials science," he said.

"As part of the second phase, we reaffirm our interest in creating the Isotope experimental station. It will enable us to conduct research into the closed nuclear fuel cycle, new materials and radiochemical processes, as well as nuclear medicine. This is a direct contribution to the future of the nuclear industry and the country’s technological sovereignty," Likhachev added.

The Rosatom head noted that the facility had been built by the corporation’s designers, general contractors, engineers and workers, "once again proving that Rosatom is capable of implementing projects of any scale."
