It's been another busy week in the Linux kernel camp with increased patch activity continuing due to AI/LLM coding agents / bots continuing to uncover different defects in the open-source codebase. The hardware monitoring (HWMON) subsystem saw many fixes this week for issues mostly raised by the Sashiko AI bot with the issues being described as mostly critical or high severity bugs.

While we approach the end of the Linux 7.2 kernel cycle with the stable release coming out later this month, patch activity continues to be high under the "new normal" of increased patch activity as a result of AI/LLMs.

HWMON maintainer Guenter Roeck described this week's HWMON fixes pull as:

"Various fixes, most of them fixing critical or high severity bugs reported by Sashiko."

These HWMON fixes are now merged ahead of Linux 7.2-rc7 due out tomorrow. There are fixes for race conditions, calculation fixes, possible out-of-bounds accesses, possible overflows, and other fixes mostly as a result of the Sashiko bot pointing out the errors in the C code.
