Making its debut this Saturday rather than the usual bi-weekly Friday release regiment, Wine 11.15 is out today as the newest development release for this open-source software enabling Windows games and applications to run on Linux.

Wine 11.15 brings more KDF algorithms implemented in BCrypt, support for ARM64EC build with the MinGW mode, more format conversions within WindowsCodex, and support for local NTLM authentication. The msv1_0 code now supports in-process NTLM authentication but can fallback to using the ntlm_auth tool in case of any problems. NTLM is the legacy Microsoft NT LAN Manager challenge-response security protocol for authentication and integrity purposes.

Wine 11.15 is also interesting on the bug fixing side. Of the 41 known bug fixes in Wine 11.15, there are two Wayland fixes. There is a fix for the Wayland EGL code to prevent washed-out colors caused by double sRGB conversion and the other fix is for 4:3 fullscreen apps on Wayland having their content offset.

Also of note with Wine 11.15 is Bug 4811 being fixed... Yes, that low bug number tells a lot by itself for the Wine project. Bug 4811 dates all the way back to March 2006. The bug is around an MSXML3 issue with XMLDOMDocument. Twenty years later, the bug is finally fixed.

The other fixes in Wine 11.15 range from addressing various game problems to fixes for WordPerf 7 and QuickBooks 2009.
