Apple announced new AI-powered features for Safari at WWDC 2026, using Apple Intelligence to enhance tab management, password security, browser customization, and page monitoring.

Apple emphasizes that these features are designed with privacy in mind and do not share browsing data with Apple or third parties.

Automatic Password Fixes and AI Tab Organization in Safari

Safari and the Passwords app can now automatically fix compromised or weak passwords with just one tap. Using Apple Intelligence, the system visits the relevant website, signs in, and updates the account to a strong password without any manual effort from the user.

Apple describes this feature as the password manager acting "agentically on a user's behalf." This builds on Safari's current ability to identify weak and compromised passwords, with the new capability to automatically fix issues in addition to existing alerts.

Safari can now automatically group open tabs into relevant topics based on their content. For example, tabs related to planning a trip would be grouped together under a single travel topic.

As new tabs are opened during a session, Safari continues to add them to existing groups or creates new ones. Users don’t need to manually categorize tabs.

Custom Safari Extensions From a Description and New Page Change Notifications

A new feature called Describe an Extension allows users to create custom Safari extensions simply by describing what they'd like in plain language. Safari then generates the extension and adds it to the toolbar.

Apple's example includes creating a button that saves and rates recipes the user has visited. This feature is aimed at users who want more control over their browser without needing to write any code.

The Notify Me feature lets users ask Safari to monitor a specific web page for changes such as a product restock or price drop. Users can specify what they are looking for, and Safari will send a notification when it detects a matching change on that page.

This feature provides a similar function to third-party price tracking tools or RSS-style update monitoring but works directly within Safari.

Availability

Apple introduced new Safari features as part of its broader Apple Intelligence updates during WWDC 2026. These features are scheduled to be released this fall alongside iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate.

Siri AI and some Apple Intelligence capabilities will also be launching in beta for English-language users later in the year. Availability for EU users on iOS and iPad may differ from Mac at launch.
