Before the bill was signed last year, adults aged 18 to 54 were required to work, volunteer or enlist in a training program for 20 hours a week, totaling 80 hours a month, while anyone living in a household with a dependent child under age 18 was exempt. Now, those requirements apply to adults 18 to 64 who don’t have dependents under the age of 14.

He’s the cuts are devastating. No more Flamin’Hot Cheetos, no more grape drank.
… Not to mention the cost and corruption of the bureaucrats needed to distribute the largesse. We can’t stop feeding those who are righteously hungry but can’t we exchange food for legitimate needed work? Apprentice trash collectors, say, who can work their way up into jobs now done by overpaid public union members who retire in their 50’s with COLA? Do our laws prohibit formation of entities that bid and compete for jobs now done by others on the public payroll? there are private jails after all.
Trump’s bill still lets the freeloaders work only 20 hours a week and keep their freebies. The government shouldn’t support them or the grocers!
These work requirements affect only 8% of SNAP recipients. The vast majority are able-bodied young men who have chosen to stay out of the workforce on purpose. They need to be pressured to do something productive for a minimum of 20 hours a week.
Bail out no one, even the bible tells us so.
You reap what you sow, not you bail out
as you like.
Idiots.

Now we know why JB refuses to share data re the magnitude of able bodied people leeching off of others with the Feds. If it’s affecting grocery stores that much, there must’ve been more than a few. Here’s a thought- how about grocery stores that only take food stamps and are only stocked with approved foods? Said stores would be located so as to end the whining about food deserts. Fraud would be much easier to track. If someone on the dole wants junk food and soda, let them pay for it at all the other stores no longer allowed… Read more »
For years the welfare roles have been filled with fit, able to work people who lived off our backs. The government didn’t properly regulate and the size grew. I feel for the stores but if government oversight was better and they didn’t just hand out money, these people would’ve been working years ago and not be in this position.

If you want to eat, you work. If you don’t work, you don’t eat. It’s called ‘adulting’. It isn’t easy. It’s difficult most days.
Breaking the work/eat link has been a disaster. Yes. I hate to see people starve, but if you can’t be bothered to do anything to earn SNAP benefits, that’s on you, not on the grocer. If government feeds you, then government can starve you.
This article, by DNC stenographer Zareen Syed typing for the formerly great newspaper known as the Chicago Tribune, is further proof that the Useless Media is infested with children.

For millions of years, humans and archaic hominins didn’t work. They foraged and hunted for food, and recently, subsisted on growing their own food. I suggest we let anyone who doesn’t want to work forage for their own food or grow it. And if they are unsuccessful at farming or foraging, well, then they can starve.
