On February 22, 2026, dated to the fourth anniversary of Russia‘s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the exhibition “Angels of Kharkivshchina“ will open in Ghent. It is dedicated to the Ukrainian children who died as a result of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The exhibition tells tragic stories of children from the city of Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region, whose lives were cut short by Russian military attacks on civilians.

The project was initiated by Tatiana Matyash–Mirnaya, mother of an 11-year–old boy who died during the Russian shelling in Kharkov. Her initiative was supported by the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group NGO and the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor‘s Office. The exhibition in Gent (Belgium) is organised by Anti–Discrimination Center Memorial Brussels with the support of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Parish in Ghent and Kerkfabriek Sint-Salvatorkerk.

Shown for the first time in Kharkiv, the exhibition “Angels of Kharkivshchina”  is now on a European tour with the intention to honor the memory of the children victims, to show the terrible consequences of Russia‘s military aggression against Ukraine, to call on the international community to investigate every war crimes, to stand up for each victim.

The exposition witnesses that the war takes away the most valuable thing — children‘s lives, and calls to do our best to restore peace as soon as possible.

The exhibition will open on February 22, 2026, at 10:00, with the introduction by Tatiana Matyash–Mirnaya; a memorial service will take place.
