Drastic temperatures call for drastic measures. And for the ground staff at Schiphol airport, those measures involved some paddling pools.

Videos of Schiphol’s ground staff cooling down in paddling pools are going viral online, but no one is complaining.

For those of us who work from the office, we have the promise of air conditioning (or at the very least, a big ol’ rusty fan) to keep us cool during this heatwave.

But for ground staff at Schiphol, working on tarmac under the baking sun makes it a bit challenging to cool off. So viewers can’t help but commend their genius.

According to AD, two ground staff colleagues had the genius idea of placing two paddling pools between the planes (as you do).

The result? Hilarious videos and much cooler working conditions.

Schiphol, however, tells AD that they can’t take credit for the creative way in which their ground staff cooled down.

“An inflatable pool is very tempting in these temperatures, but of course it does not belong on the tarmac among the airplanes,” a spoksperson says.

While the airport refuses to provide its workers with paddling pools, it is providing them with the opportunity to hose down.
