The new Manhattan freely box is available to buy in Currys :
Hopefully the stock will be better that it was for the Netgem Pleio. It's in stock at the moment.
Not seeing any stock to collect locally, might as well just order online

You are/will not missing anything. It is a glorified Youview box with a freely TV app embedded, and a walled garden. You cannot sideload apps either.
Thanks.
So who is this aimed at, every smart tv has apps why buy another gadget that doesn't add anything?
Thanks.

For those who dont have Smart Tvs AND no Aerial for terrestrial TV. Broadcast is via internet, which is where the world is heading. But not so soon.

When I had the Netgem Pleio, I could go into live channel 5 and there would be an option to watch from the start of the program. I tried it on my firestick and there was no option for that and also I couldn't rewind manually to the start either.
That would be enough for me to buy this box - if I didn't already have a Sky Puck then I would have bought it from Currys.
It would also be aimed at those who have a screen with no tuner who want to be able to now receive broadcast TV, or those with a older smart TV where the smarts are too old to work, but the screen still works fine.

I would use Sky streaming.

I never gave that a thought, i assume probably wrongly most of us have a smart TV as they have been out a long time so demand for such a box would be low i ill keep an eye on this thread and see howe popular they become.
Winter Olympics opening ceremony on at moment, should be a good test for Freely
Thanks.

I don't have a functional TV aerial (and don't want Sky or Cable), so have been relying on apps like BBC iPlayer and ITVX to watch live TV from the PSB broadcasters.
It's inconvenient to "channel surf" working this way.
Freely through the Netgem Pleio box makes it a lot easier to channel surf.
If you want to flick between BBC One and Channel 4, for example, it's much quicker than switching between apps.
You can also see a TV Guide for all of the available channels.
https://manhattan-tv.com/support/aero < Manhattan Aero Support:
Does Aero support 4K HDR?Yes. Aero outputs in 4K and supports 4K streaming from BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and YouTube.
It supports HDR10 and HDR10+. Dolby Vision isn’t supported, but HDR10+ includes dynamic metadata for an excellent HDR picture.

I would use Sky streaming.
with a monthly cost and IMO the user interface is not very friendly to those who are used to Sky satellite or other platforms where you can turn on and type in a channel number.
I have not used Freely so not sure if this is similar, but the BBC did say they wanted a low cost, no frills Freely box for this specific use case
Thanks.

In the longer term, Freely is supposed to be the IP replacement for Freeview, and I presume it offers a consistent user interface as compared to every smart TV doing their own thing.
