For many people with tinnitus, finding effective care is less a matter of diagnosis than of circumstance. Whether a patient receives accurate information, evidence-based treatment options, and meaningful guidance depends largely on which provider they happen to see. While tinnitus is among the most common chronic conditions in the United States, there is no accepted standard of care, and training in tinnitus management varies considerably across audiology doctoral programs.

Many people living with tinnitus continue to struggle to find the information, support, and the specialized care they need. ATA created the role of Vice President of Tinnitus Programming to help bridge these gaps through provider education and professional development.

Dr. Hannah Glick, AuD, PhD, CCC-A, joined ATA in May to lead this critical work.

Dr. Glick brings a rare combination of clinical and scientific credentials to the role. A certified audiologist and cognitive neuroscientist, her NIH- and ASHA Foundation-funded research examines how hearing loss, treatment, and rehabilitation affect brain function, cognition, and social-emotional well-being. She has worked across healthcare, academia, industry, government, and nonprofit settings, and most recently served as graduate coordinator of the Doctor of Audiology program at the University of Northern Colorado, where she shaped the training of the next generation of audiologists. She has also served as president of the Colorado Academy of Audiology.

In her position at ATA, Dr. Glick will lead strategic development across ATA’s full programming portfolio, including patient support services, research partnerships, and professional and patient engagement. She will also lead ATA Academy, ATA’s new professional education initiative designed to equip audiologists, physicians, and other providers with the tools they need to serve tinnitus patients effectively.

“Tinnitus is one of the most common and least understood chronic conditions,” Dr. Glick said. “Millions of people are suffering, and many of the providers they turn to don’t have adequate knowledge and training to help them. That’s a solvable problem, which we’re determined to tackle.”

Dr. Glick’s appointment reflects ATA’s recognition that advancing tinnitus science and improving patient care are not separate pursuits. For the millions of people living with tinnitus, the distance between a research discovery and a better clinical experience is where meaningful change either happens or stalls. ATA is committed to closing that gap, and Dr. Glick is the right person to lead this effort.
