Cross the country, hunt, trade, find gold.

It is apparently not copy protected, according to the manual.

This is in what I assume was a kind of bulk-purchase box provided to schools.  There is no box art, just a standardized blue box, with a sticker on the front.

Go for the gold! Challenge

rough terrain, violent

weather, hostile Indians,

disease, and more. Journey

to the hills of California to

join the search for precious

metal. Should you survive

the trip, your riches are far

from guaranteed. First you

will have to stake a claim,

then you'll have to work it

(and the work is far from

easy). Finally; if you do find

something,, you'll have to

defend yourself from claim

jumpers and thieves.

Starting in Mississippi, you

will join a wagon train

heading west. With only a

few dollars in your pocket, 

you must decide what 

supplies to bring along,

whether a medical kit is

necessary, and whether you

can afford a horse, or even

oxen to pull your cart. You

must plan your food and

water supplies carefully.

Discover America.

Experience the wonders of

the southwest's deserts and

dry plateaus. Hunt antelope

and buffalo-or search the

parched slopes of the Sierra

Nevadas and find nothing at

all to eat or drink. You will

have to survive until you

reach the next fort. Unless, of

course, you can make friends

with the Indians. Some tribes

are friendly and will trade

with you gladly. Others are

wary, made violent by your

intrusion into their land and

their life.
