We’re expecting to see the upcoming low-cost MacBook offered in several bright colors, and there’s also talk of a deep red option for the iPhone 18 Pro, so this seems a good time to talk about colors …
In the past, Apple seemed to have taken the view that serious products should have muted hues while cheaper ones can be colorful. We’ve seen that pattern with the iPhone where brighter colors were reserved for the cheaper models, with the iPhone 5C a particular standout example.
Even when Apple does offer more premium products in new color options, they aren’t always very, well, colorful. The allegedly blue M4 MacBook Air was an example.
But perhaps the Cosmic Orange experience has shown the company that there is appetite for more interesting colors even in Pro models. Reader comments have consistently said that you would welcome more color choices across Apple products. In one poll on the MacBook Air, for example, more than two-thirds of you wanted to see more colourful models offered.
Google has just taken a fun look back at the colors it’s chosen for its Pixel smartphones over the years. While there are the ubiquitous black, white and subtle color pathways, there have also been some funky pastels and outright bright colors.
So let’s find out what you’d ideally like to see from Apple in future, with a series of polls about color …
First, would you like to see Apple offer more vivid colors across premium models as well as lower-end ones?
Second, what types of colour hues would you most like to see?
Finally, if you had to pick color options for new Apple products, what would they be? You can pick as many as you like, but it would probably be helpful for the results if you limited yourself to two or three choices.
