Apple introduced a ton of new hardware this month. New iPhones, iPads, Macs, and more made for a March to remember. Apple also discontinued a lot of products this month — and not just to make room for new hardware.

New products introduced in March include:

Apple also introduced its Spring 2026 collection of iPhone cases, Apple Watch bands, new colors of the Crossbody Strap, and the first Beats-Nike collaboration with special edition Powerbeats Pro headphones.

With the arrival of new hardware, Apple discontinued these products:

Each of these product discontinuations is a straightforward instance of something old being replaced by something new.

However, Apple also discontinued two product lines — not just product versions — in March.

First, Apple discontinued the Pro Display XDR, its 32-inch, 6K resolution monitor introduced alongside the redesigned Intel Mac Pro in 2019.

The new Studio Display XDR is the spiritual successor, but even with mini LED technology and higher refresh rates, the new “Pro” monitor is still a 27-inch, 5K resolution monitor.

Then, on Thursday, 9to5Mac exclusively reported that Apple was killing off the Mac Pro. The Mac Studio, which currently offers M3 Ultra and M4 Max chips, was already ahead of the M2 Ultra Mac Pro. Apple finally did the inevitable and retired the Mac Pro product line entirely.

Speaking of the Mac Studio, Apple stopped selling the highest RAM configuration for that machine this month.

This is an instance of Apple likely having trouble sourcing RAM for that machine during the global memory shortage caused by AI server needs.

Still, it’s not often we see Apple no longer able to just take your money if you’re willing to pay for the absolute best machine.

It’s especially notable since 512GB RAM was touted as a key feature — aside from overall performance — for the M3 Ultra chip inside the Mac Studio.

One product that stuck around in March despite rumors of its replacement being ready? The A16 iPad.
