Sandra Oh has learned that fame comes with a price. 

The 50-year-old actress revealed she suffered from health problems, including insomnia and back pain, after she became a star on Grey's Anatomy where she played the laser focused Dr. Cristina Yang for 10 seasons.  

The admission came during a discussion about the repercussions of sudden fame with Squid Game star Jung Ho-yeon, 27, in the Variety Actors on Actors edition. 

'When Grey's Anatomy came — my life changed very much,' she said.

'And it's tricky to imagine, because this is almost 20 years ago, so the context is very different, but the stress is the same — or the confusion is the same... Because I feel like, honestly, I got sick. I think my whole body was very, very sick.'

'It's just like, "Oh, I can't sleep. Oh, my back hurts. I don't know what's wrong with my skin."'

While on the medical drama, Sandra earned multiple awards and nominations for her work. 

The experience gave the hard-working actress insight into the importance of self-care, and she has since put her focus not only on the physical, but the mental.

'But that's not only your body, right? That is your soul. That is definitely your mind... 

'Because you can't ultimately depend on anyone else. You have to somehow find it within yourself,' she said.

The Meditation Park star is reported to practice Vipassanā, a Buddhist form of reflection.

Sandra has been starring as the title character in the series Killing Eve since 2018 and described it as, 'probably one of the hardest jobs I've ever had. Because I felt so much of the entire show is so about the internal life at least of Eve.'

The multi-talented artist disclosed that she and co-star Jodie Comer didn't talk about the show much 'because there was so much magic that was going on that we both knew: We're not going to touch it. We're just not going to talk about it. It's going to be very ambiguous. And I think that's some of what really works between the two characters. You don't know what's happening between them. They don't really know what's happening between them.' 

During their conversation, Ho-yeon, spoke about the importance of seeing someone like Sandra on television. 'Grey’s Anatomy was a huge thing in Korea because of you, and you’re icon of us.'
