D4vd’s Apple Music account was seemingly hacked, posting a song titled “I DID IT,” about the murder of a teen for which he is currently facing charges.

Singer D4vd remains locked up amid a preliminary hearing to determine whether his murder case should go to trial, but his Apple Music page was seemingly hacked over the weekend. The hacked account added an eerie fake track with a voice similar to D4vd’s to his discography, titled “I DID IT.”

The fake song has since been removed, but it appeared to be a version of an unreleased track called Celeste, which D4vd allegedly recorded in 2023. The singer, whose real name is David Burke, is currently in jail on charges of sexually abusing and murdering a 14-year-old girl named Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

The body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found last year inside the front trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke. An aerial photo of the car, released by ABC7 Los Angeles, was used as the cover art for the mysterious track.

Lyrics in the song involve the singer professing his love for a girl called Celeste, with lines like “I hear her voice each time I take a breath,” and claiming her scent remains on his clothes “like cigarettes.” It also describes her as “the girl with my name tattooed on her chest.” While Rivas Hernandez allegedly had a tattoo on her index finger that matched one Burke also has, there is no evidence to suggest she had his name tattooed on her chest.

Whether the song is entirely fictitious or based on a track Burke had actually worked on is unknown—but the singer currently lacks access to upload music himself. The track also was removed shortly afterward, and D4vd isn’t the only artist whose streaming pages were seemingly tampered with in recent months.

Major stars, including Beyonce and Harry Styles, have had AI-generated music added to their profile pages, but artists with a more niche following are more likely to be affected. In 2023, an AI-generated duet between Drake and The Weeknd was removed from streaming platforms after Universal Music said the song violated the label’s copyright.

Earlier this year, Sony Music said it had requested the removal of more than 135,000 songs by people impersonating its artists across streaming services. Spotify revealed last fall that it had removed over 75 million spam tracks over the previous year. Deezer announced just last week that 50% of daily uploads—or an eye-watering 90,000 tracks—are AI-generated. In January last year, Deezer said that the number was around 10,000 per day.

Over the last week, prosecutors have laid out evidence they assert connects Burke to the killing of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. This includes messages revealing the pair’s sexual relationship, as well as tension between the two shortly before her death.

Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. The preliminary hearing continues this week to determine whether the case will head to trial.
