A gang of tracksuit-clad teenagers have sparked fury after they were filmed laughing as they destroyed a flower bed in a quiet town centre.

Video footage captured the moment the bored youths gleefully laughed as they began kicking the neatly pruned display.

The group were spotted near the Gracechurch Shopping Centre in the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, at around 12pm on Sunday, July 26.

Horrified onlookers can be heard begging them to 'stop' as they continue the onslaught on the orange and yellow flowers.

Onlookers also claimed the group were attempting to smash the glass panels of a nearby bus stop and intimidate those waiting nearby.

The thugs were reportedly then scolded by officers who were called to the scene, but continued their attack on the flower bed once police were out of sight.

The mindless vandalism took place at the start of the summer holidays and has left locals fearing 'how much worse it is going to get'.

Adam Kimber, 36, who recorded the video said: 'I was on a day out to the town centre when I saw a gang of six or seven boys trying to smash the glass panes of a nearby bus stop.'

He added: 'But when that didn't work they took their aggression out on the flower bed.

'They also looked so happy doing it laughing to each other. They were kicking them for a couple of minutes when the police arrived and told them to stop.

'They scattered but as soon as they left they continued.'

Adam - who is currently unemployed - said he was shocked by the boys' actions which he said 'lacked respect'.

He said: 'I grew up being told to say "please" and "thank you" and to show respect.

'You wouldn't dare doing something like this. If you did you would get a clip on the ear.

'It is only the first few weeks of the summer holidays, who knows how much worse it is going to get.

'These kids clearly have no respect or morals for anything.'

West Midlands Police and Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield Town Council have been approached for a comment.

In March, Scotland Yard warned of hoodlums meeting for 'linkups' during the Easter holidays after hundreds of teens were seen tearing through Clapham in south London.

It left terrified families barricaded inside high street stores during the chaos as mobs of youths ran wild outside.

The social media trend encourages teens to 'linkup' en masse.

Videos and comments from teenagers who attended suggest the meet-up was arranged on social media with many calling it 'the Clapham courts linkup' and others simply referring to it as 'Clapham courts' or 'courts'.

It saw a wild mob of youths running riot in a M&S store and terrorising the streets of Clapham.

Police were forced to issue a dispersal order and two 16-year-old girls and one 15-year-old girl were arrested for shoplifting and assault during the crazed gathering of over 100 teenagers.

Footage posted on social media showed police officers watching on as an army of youngsters stormed through the supermarket.

Officers attempted to control the frenzied crowd as they shoved each other while running down the frozen food aisle before a brawl broke out that left one girl in tears.

Other videos showed them running through the high street squealing and shouting as confused onlookers stood frozen in fear.

They also ambushed other shops in the area, including a Sainsbury's where a young girl was filmed hitting a police officer and another seen running out of the shop and away from officers.

London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan announced just days after the chaos that he would fund at least one late night youth club for each borough.

Carole Powell, manager for local business improvement district This Is Clapham, told the BBC this week the disorder was down to young people 'wanting connection, social media, boredom, lack of resources and an age-old game of kids acting-up'.
