The Today show has been slammed by viewers after Lauren Sanchez appeared as a guest to promote her new children's book.
During Tuesday's episode, the 56-year-old wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, 62, joined Craig Melvin in the studio for an interview.
For the segment, Sanchez plugged her latest kids' book, The Fly Who Flew Under the Sea, and spoke about her headline-grabbing wedding in Venice, Italy, which took place last June.
Sanchez also shared an insight into the upcoming Met Gala, which will see her and her husband serve as honorary chairs.
Speaking about the upcoming fashion event, she said: 'It has been such a fun and meaningful experience and when Anna [Wintour] called me and said, "do you want to co-chair and also be the sponsors of the Met?" I was so honored.
'And then she told me the theme, fashion is art. And these designers are true artists.'
Melvin applauded Sanchez after their chat and said that he 'really enjoyed this conversation.'
Of her book, he added: 'It's so obvious this is more than a children's book to you. This is a mission.'
The Today show has been lambasted by viewers for platforming Lauren Sanchez
While Melvin may have enjoyed the interview, social media users unleashed their anger over Sanchez's appearance on the show on Today's official Instagram page, where they lambasted the network for platforming her.
Taking to the comments underneath a segment from her interview, one said: 'I LOVE the Today Show but can we just erase this segment from existing? Why is this billionaire being platformed?'
'So incredibly sad to see you platform this person,' wrote another.
A third continued: 'My favorite morning show, no more. Honestly, they lost it a while ago, but I was holding out for hope. Waste of time.'
'Are we serious?' a fourth asked. 'Today show! Do better!'
Another snapped: 'This wedding was last year. Why do we care? Why is this interview even relevant?'
'Man, y’all are continuing to miss the mark on so much recently. I’m really disappointed in who you choose to platform, the constant push of consumerism with affiliate links, and the cheap overall vibe.
'Mainstream media is degrading. Y’all were my last hope and it’s gone. Like so many in this comment section, I’m done,' shared one.
Sanchez also spoke candidly about her struggle with dyslexia, which she hid for years
Sanchez tied the knot to Bezos in June 2025 in a lavish ceremony that caused disruption
Elsewhere during her Today show appearance, Sanchez spoke candidly about her dyslexia and how she masked it for years.
'I went through life hiding it,' she said.
'Even when I was a news anchor, no one knew I was dyslexic except my co-anchor and he would help me.'
One of her sons, who also has dyslexia and struggled with writing in his younger years, surprised her with a special speech on her wedding day.
'[He] went up there and talked about a moment that was extremely important to him and I had no idea what he was going to say,' she said.
Explaining why his speech was so moving, Sanchez added: 'He was in the 4th grade and not writing well and he wrote this sentence that says, 'I can do this.'
'And it was his first sentence. And that's really late to be writing your first sentence as any parent with a kid with dyslexia knows.'
