The post Education, psychosocial support, and basic assistance in Gaza’s displacement camps appeared first on Relief International.
Across Gaza, an estimated 1.7 million people — roughly 300,000 families — are living in displacement sites, many of them informal camps, following widespread destruction, ongoing violence, and insecurity.
Over the past two and a half years, restrictions on humanitarian supplies and movement have severely limited access to shelter and essential services, and families continue to struggle desperately.
With the support of the READ Foundation, Relief International is working with local partners to provide education services, psychosocial care, and food assistance. Together we are making a critical difference for families living in unimaginable conditions.

Through the Temporary Learning Spaces we have implemented with local partners, upper-grade students have been able to continue their studies in a structured and supportive learning environment.
A total of 375 students are enrolled in our Temporary Learning Spaces, demonstrating strong engagement even under the most difficult of circumstances.
In addition, 18 staff members received Psychological First Aid training to help them respond to students’ needs and create safe learning environments. These activities are helping to restore routine, continuity, and a sense of possibility for students, despite the challenges of conflict and displacement.
Helping children to express their emotions and rebuild confidence
Children participate in a TeamUp psychosocial support session using movement-based activities that help them express emotions and strengthen coping skills in displacement settings across Gaza.
Children take part in group activities during a TeamUp session designed to support emotional well-being and rebuild peer connections in informal displacement camps.
A psychosocial support session takes place inside a temporary learning tent where children receive structured guidance to manage stress and strengthen resilience in challenging conditions.
Children living in displacement camps often experience deep emotional stress and uncertainty.
Many participants asked for additional sessions, highlighting how important these activities are in helping restore moments of normalcy within the camp environment.
Supporting caregivers through essential food assistance during Ramadan
For many caregivers living in displacement, access to sustainable income remains limited or completely unavailable. Meeting household needs, navigating daily challenges, and supporting children can become a constant feat.
To help ease this pressure, hundreds of caregivers received food parcels through our project, including distributions carried out during the month of Ramadan. Families shared their appreciation for the timely support during a particularly sensitive period of the year.
Providing this type of assistance strengthens household stability and allows caregivers to remain actively engaged in supporting their children’s well-being and participation in important project activities.
READ Foundation’s support is enabling us to help families across Gaza cope as they face ongoing violence, uncertainty and limited access to services.
