I'm sure there's plenty enough of you that moved on from the first Darkest Dungeon onto the second one when that launched in 2023, but guess what! You'll have an opportunity to revisit the original turn-based dungeon crawler next month, as developer Red Hook Studios have announced its first bit of DLC since 2020 in commemoration of the game's 1.0 launch 10th anniversary.

The DLC is called The Fire's Edge, and it actually borrows a bit from Darkest Dungeon 2 in the form of two hero classes, the Duelist and the Runaway. The Duelist, as detailed on the DLC's Steam page, is a "complex damage dealer that dances between the party’s ranks, able to freely maintain Riposte while alternating between her two combat stances, Defensive and Aggressive."

The Runaway, on the other hand, is a "position-flexible damage dealer utilizing a unique Burn damage type with high synergy for teams that like to utilize Stuns and Pull/Knockback/Shuffle effects." Beyond this, you'll also find new trinket mechanics including ones called trigger uses, quest charges, and progressive trinkets, none of which I can describe to you because that's all the information provided about them.

And lastly, there'll be three new Hamlet Districts, Academie Duello, Craftworks, and Archaeological Base Camp (see previous comment on trinket mechanics re: further descriptions). I should also probably mention that release date! It's August 18th, just under a month away, so if you've been looking for an excuse to revisit the original Darkest Dungeon, you've not got long to wait for a pretty good sounding one.
