Wrapping up the Chattanooga Area Swim League regular season, the Cleveland Waterdogs secured a tie for second place in the Red Division race with a makeup victory at the Chattanooga Golf & Country Club, Monday evening.

“We are excited to end the season on such a high not," proclaimed second-year Waterdog head coach Jae Dauphinais of the 428-231 blowout of the short-handed Wavemakers.

"The team really enjoyed coming together tonight (Monday) to cheer each other on and a lot of fun was had and memories made.

The annual Bill Caulkins City Meet with be held with all-day sessions Friday and Saturday, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. 

Monday's make-up from a June 22 rain out, saw the Cleveland squad carry 60 swimmers to the "Scenic City," 45 of which added points to the winning tally.

The hosts were able to put just 28 scoring swimmers in the water, with just 10 posting double-digit tallies.

The Waterdogs had a half dozen "Perfect 19s" among, with 23 reaching at least the 10-point mark. 

Winning all five of their races for the visitors were six-year-old Camden Gray, 10-year-old Carter Gray, 13-year-old Christian Chai, 14-year-old Elle Cusion, plus 18-year-olds Alaina Chapman and Jared Johnson.

The meet was competitive through the younger half of the age brackets with CGCC taking four of the first seven divisions for a 206-180 advantage, but the Wavemakers had just three entrants in the final five age divisions, while the Waterdogs rallied for 248-12 streak for the win.   

Putting up 10 points, Ivy Connellan led the hosts' opening 16-6 win in the Girls 6-Under division.

The Waterdogs answered with a 23-8 victory in the youngest boys' bracket as Camden Gray dominated with his 19-point performance.

CGCC swept the 7-8 classifications, winning the girls 43-25 and the boys 29-6.

Cana Basham reached "perfection" for the Lady Wavemakers, while teammates Lizzy Messerly and Scarlett Warrick tacked on 11 and nine points, respectively.

Seven-year-olds Hattie and Laura Goudzward topped the Lady Waterdogs with nine and seven markers.

Franklin Randall garnered a dozen points for the CGCC boys, while teammate John Conroy, both seven-year-olds, had 11.

The Cleveland squad returned the favor with a sweep of the 9-10 age brackets, with a hard-fought 36-32 battle by the girls and a 49-36 win by the boys.

Sofie Rullmann and Alice Bezerraled the Lady Dogs to victory with 16 and 11 points, while Anne Frances Messerly topped the hosts with 10.

Carter Gray's 19 gave the Waterdogs breathing room, while nine-year-old teammates Knox Berry and Charles Shumway added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Ronan Connellan put up a dozen markers and James Bentley 10 for the hosts.

The final Wavemaker win came in the Girls 11-12 by a slim 42-35 margin as 11-year-olds Zuma Bentley and Adalyn Turner led the way with 15 and 14 points.

Waterdogs Alice Torchick and Brooklyn Shumway, both age 12, followed with 13 and 12 markers.

The Cleveland boys made it an even split of the opening eight division, taking the Boys 11-12 by a 38-15 blowout.

With all four swimmers just 11 years old, Kyle Cuison led the way with 17 points, while Cleveland teammates Fiddy Burgueno added a "baker's dozen" and Sam Lopez eight markers.

Gio Janini, the lone Wavemaker participant, finished second with 15 points.

Likewise, the hosts had just one swimmer in the each of the 13-14 divisions, compared to four for the visitors.

Ella Cusion's "perfection," plus 13-year-old Ellery Chapman put up 15 points, while teammates Violet Smith and Kayla Burgueno finished with 12 and 10 markers.

The Waterdogs took the Top 3 spots in the boys 13-14 with Chai's "Perfect 19," joined by 13 from Marquette Shumway and 11 by Sam Woods.

Cooper Webb added the final eight points of the evening for CGCC, just ahead of seven from Waterdog Maxim Shapoval.

Uncontested in the two older divisions, the Cleveland squad saw Alaina Chapman and Jared Johnson take all five of their races to lead the way.

Claire Wendorf garnred 17 points and Lily Cuison 10 for the girls, while Davis Hobbs posted 17 and Jack Cuison 13 for the boys.
