The chromosomal genome sequence of the sponge, Rhabdastrella globostellata (Carter, 1883) (Tetractinellida: Ancorinidae) and its associated microbial metagenome sequences [version 1; peer review: awaiting peer review]

We present a genome assembly from an individual Rhabdastrella globostellata (sponge; Porifera; Demospongiae; Tetractinellida; Ancorinidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 155.58 megabases. Most of the assembly (98.97%) is scaffolded into 21 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 18.12 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 17 532 protein-coding genes. From the metagenome data, we recovered 131 bins, of which 55 were high-quality MAGs, representing 19 phyla (i.e., Pseudomonadota, Chloroflexota, Acidobacteriota) and candidate phyla (including Ca. Poribacteria).
