Grammy-winning singer Lenny Kravitz conspicuously works out in leather pants and jeans. Though unorthodox, the 62-year-old provided an explanation on why he prefers work out in those clothes during an interview with Men’s Health Magazine for its latest issue.
“I perform onstage in leather, denim, whatever, so those are the pants I wear to train,” Kravitz stated. “It also means I can fit in a workout anytime, anywhere.”
The Fly Away singer also revealed how he tracks his fitness, saying that he uses his waist size.
“I can gauge everything by how I’m in my pants,” he explained. “Like, if my pants are a little tight, I know I’m getting outta’ shape. My friend Denzel Washington gave me this phrase, ‘The pants don’t lie, the pants don’t lie.’”

Kravitz barely shows his legs, but he said he wasn’t insecure about any part of his body when he was asked if that was the case.
“Not right now, and I don’t mean that to sound like I’m into myself, but I’ve put in the work and I feel really good,” he said. “But I gotta fill out my legs a little bit.”
Kravitz became a topic of discussion in 2024 when he posted an Instagram video that showed him working out in leather pants. He provided an explanation in a previous interview with Variety.
“I’m always working out in leather pants or jeans and boots and whatever — if I’m not doing cardio,” he stated. “If I’m doing cardio, obviously I’m going to wear sweats because I’m going to be sweating all over the place. But if I’m lifting weights, I don’t sweat so much.”
